2024 Draft: The Packers choose Arizona offensive lineman Jordan Morgan in the first round, securing him with the 25th overall pick…

The Packers made a significant addition to their offensive line depth by drafting Arizona tackle Jordan Morgan with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Morgan, standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 311 pounds, boasts an impressive collegiate career, starting 37 games at left tackle, including 33 over the past three seasons.

Despite a setback with a torn ACL in 2022, Morgan displayed remarkable resilience, recovering to start 12 games at left tackle in 2023 and earning recognition as a first-team All-Pac-12 Conference player. Notably, he allowed only two sacks in 787 snaps during the previous season, showcasing his proficiency in pass protection.

Morgan’s athleticism is another standout feature, evident from his impressive performance at the scouting combine, where he clocked a 5.04-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 28-inch vertical jump. Draft analysts believe Morgan possesses the versatility to excel at both tackle and guard positions in the NFL.

For the Packers, Morgan’s arrival presents an opportunity for competition at various positions on the offensive line. He could vie with Rasheed Walker for the left tackle spot or potentially challenge Sean Rhyan for the right guard position as a rookie, although specific roles are yet to be determined.

With key departures from the offensive line during the offseason, including David Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan, and Yosh Nijman, the selection of Morgan underscores the Packers’ commitment to bolstering their offensive line. Notably, he marks the first offensive lineman drafted in the first round by the Packers since Derek Sherrod in 2011.
