Manchester City facing late-night Newcastle travel woes.

Manchester City will have to use a bus to go back from their Carabao Cup match against Newcastle United on Wednesday night since there are no trains or flights running. This was confirmed by Pep Guardiola.

If a penalty shootout is not necessary, City’s match at St. James’ Park will end about 10 p.m. UK time, at which point the team will travel the 140 miles back to Manchester.

The journey will take close to three hours, taking considerably longer than if City were able to stick to their regular schedule and travel by plane.

At a news conference on Tuesday, Guardiola stated, “We cannot return by plane due to a problem with something for the planes.

“We don’t have any flights to get back, so we have to take a bus, which takes two or three hours longer, and we get here [in Manchester] so, so late. On Friday, we go to Wolves.”

The players will probably return to Manchester sometime after 2 a.m. on Thursday so they can train at the City Football Academy. The lengthy drive back will have an influence on Guardiola’s preparations for City’s next match against Wolves at Molineux on Saturday as his squad looks to keep up their undefeated start to the season.

“I don’t know what happened,” Guardiola continued.

Guardiola stated, “He chose to stay.”

“The club talked to him, and because he only had a short time, he said no, I want to stay. He is a nice man, so everything works out perfectly.

“We want to try to do this because he is open-minded, always wants to learn, and wants to help.”
