ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that McCarthy has met with the Dallas Cowboys, marking his fourth interview after previous discussions with the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Carolina Panthers.

The Dallas Cowboys, potentially parting ways with current coach Jason Garrett following a lackluster 2019 season, are the final team on McCarthy’s interview list. Garrett, who has been with the Cowboys for nine seasons, faces an expiring contract.

McCarthy’s tenure with the Packers ended in December 2018 after 13 successful years, during which he accumulated 125 regular-season victories, secured six division titles, and won a Super Bowl in XLV. Despite being out of coaching in 2019, McCarthy spent the year studying the game and possibly refining his coaching approach.

Notably, the Washington Redskins chose not to interview McCarthy, having already hired former Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera.

Of the four teams McCarthy interviewed with, the Packers are only scheduled to face the Panthers in the upcoming 2020 season.
