Everton defeated Brentford last time out by a score of 3-1 to record their first victory of the Premier League season thus far. The Toffees scored three goals—Abdoulaye Doucoure, James Tarkowski, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin—to capture a much-needed three points.
Once the Merseyside club’s midweek EFL Cup third round match with Aston Villa is through, manager Sean Dyche will start preparing for the visit from Luton Town on Saturday.
When freshly promoted Luton Town arrives at Goodison Park, Everton will be hoping for another victory. After a challenging start to the season, back-to-back Premier League triumphs, if they can pull it off, would be a huge boost for everyone at the club.
When Dyche’s squad is at home, the Everton supporters can undoubtedly make a significant contribution on their behalf. It is hard for rivals to enter Goodison Park when it is lively and loud.
Everton needs to get Goodison Park going.
Michael Ball firmly feels that the ambiance at Goodison Park might be an advantage for Everton this year.
The former Everton full-back stated in a piece for the Liverpool Echo, “Dyche and the players have had to exploit Goodison as an advantage…Utilizing the audience means getting the squad ready, pushing mistakes, making them anxious, and having the correct mindset to make mistakes. The Goodison crowd will be bouncing once you do it.
“Opposition players just want to go home when Goodison Park is hopping…We need to make their afternoon miserable because Luton is enjoying these Premier League venues.
Everton will have a fantastic chance to have a strong home record if they can harness the enthusiasm and energy of the Goodison Park spectators this year. They should be able to avoid any relegation issues with the points they would then ideally accumulate on their home turf.
Since joining the Premier League, Luton has similarly struggled and has failed to win a game. This weekend, Everton must take care to avoid making the Hatters’ transition return to the top division of English football any simpler. They must take advantage of this chance to build on their strong performance against Brentford and establish some solid form.
