TRENDING NEWS: Jordan Poyer sign with a fresh team…

The Buffalo Bills underwent significant changes on Wednesday due to salary cap constraints, resulting in the release of five players, including safety Jordan Poyer and center Mitch Morse, who were integral parts of the team’s core. Additionally, cornerback Tre’Davious White was let go, though his release was not initially announced by the team due to timing issues. White, currently recovering from an Achilles tendon injury sustained in Week 4, is designated as a post-June 1 cut, providing the Bills with additional cap relief.

These cuts collectively represent 27 seasons of NFL experience, with 16 of those seasons spent with the Bills. The team needed to make these moves as they entered the offseason significantly over the salary cap.

Furthermore, the Bills restructured edge rusher Von Miller’s contract, saving an additional $8.6 million in cap space. They were also successful in retaining several pending unrestricted free agents, including safety Taylor Rapp and negotiations with free agent quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

Additionally, they extended contracts for backup offensive lineman David Edwards and punter Matt Haack.

Despite these efforts, the focus remains on the notable departures from the team, particularly the breakup of the veteran secondary that has been a cornerstone since 2017.

The Bills are now in a transition period, with General Manager Brandon Beane working to re-sign key players and manage future spending while navigating the constraints of the salary cap.
