As the Arkansas game approaches, Auburn finds itself in a remarkably healthy state compared to the rest of the season. Despite contending with a series of injuries throughout the season, the Tigers appear to have emerged relatively unscathed for the time being.
With just one player listed as questionable, Auburn enjoys a relatively clean bill of health, a rare occurrence at this stage of the season. Avery Jones, a senior offensive lineman who joined Auburn from East Carolina during the offseason, suffered a leg injury during the Mississippi State game, adding to the team’s injury woes.
Head coach Hugh Freeze remains cautiously optimistic about Jones’ potential availability for the Arkansas matchup, though it’s likely to be in a limited capacity if he does play. The final decision on Jones’ status hinges on discussions with the medical staff, with Freeze suggesting that a definitive update may not come until Wednesday or Thursday. In the meantime, Connor Lew, a freshman from Kennesaw, Ga., has admirably filled in for Jones, contributing to the team’s offensive line performance despite the setback.
While Jones’ absence has undoubtedly posed challenges, Lew’s solid performance has mitigated the impact to some extent. The overall improvement in Auburn’s offensive line performance this season is particularly noticeable when the team is operating at full strength, underscoring the significance of maintaining good health as they face Arkansas and beyond.
