The Atlanta Braves’ farm system has been positioned at 26th place in the latest rankings provided by Keith Law.

Division Series - Philadelphia Phillies v Atlanta Braves - Game Three

In Keith Law’s updated rankings, the Atlanta Braves’ farm system has been placed at 26th position for the 2024 season. This ranking reflects a decline in the team’s prospect depth, with only one prospect, Hurston Waldrep, making it to Law’s Top 100 list from the 2023 first round pick.

The Braves have engaged in significant trading activities, depleting their prospect pool to bolster their major league roster. Despite holding onto top pitching prospects like Waldrep and AJ Smith-Shawver, the majority of the Braves’ pitching prospects, including Waldrep, carry considerable reliever risk. Nacho Alvarez stands out as one of the few position players with potential to become a regular starter.

The team’s decision to trade Vaughn Grissom for Chris Sale underscores their strategy of prioritizing immediate needs over long-term prospect development. However, they refrained from trading their top two pitching prospects. Looking ahead, there is optimism surrounding pitchers like Spencer Schwellenbach and Owen Murphy, who could progress in the upcoming season. Additionally, the signing of infielder Jose Perdomo, a highly-regarded international talent, adds intrigue to the Braves’ prospect pool as he prepares for his major league debut in 2024.
