By Jimmy Kempski, PhillyVoice Staff
On Monday, we unveiled our inaugural Philadelphia Eagles-focused mock draft for the offseason. Today, we’ll survey some national pundits to see who they predict the Eagles will select with the 22nd overall pick.
Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma (Projected by Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network)
With Lane Johnson’s career winding down, the Eagles may look to Guyton, another former Sooner known for his exceptional athleticism, to shore up their offensive line.
#JimmySays: Guyton and Taliese Fuaga are among my top two potential first-round picks for the Eagles.
Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State (Predicted by Mel Kiper, ESPN)
Fuaga could offer immediate talent infusion to a team grappling with aging linemen and roster uncertainties, potentially replacing Lane Johnson while bolstering the offensive front.
#JimmySays: Fuaga was also our first-round pick in the Eagles-only mock draft, aligning with Kiper’s rationale.
Nate Wiggins, CB, Clemson (Forecasted by Bucky Brooks, NFL Network)
To address their secondary woes, the Eagles might turn to Wiggins, an athletically gifted prospect with promising early-career potential.
#JimmySays: Cornerback stands as the Eagles’ second most probable Round 1 priority after offensive tackle.
Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo (Suggested by Dane Brugler, The Athletic)
Mitchell, with his size and speed, brings versatility to the cornerback position, offering flexibility for the Eagles’ defensive schemes.
JimmySays: Mitchell models his game after Darius Slay, offering versatility inside and outside.
Cooper DeJean, CB, Iowa (Projected by Brentley Weissman, TheDraftNetwork)
DeJean’s versatility and exceptional instincts could make him a valuable asset for the Eagles’ defense, addressing deficiencies in their secondary.
JimmySays: DeJean’s adaptability across various positions underscores his value as a football player.
Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama (Predicted by Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News)
Arnold’s playmaking abilities and size could offer immediate assistance to the Eagles’ pass coverage, though he may be a stretch at pick 22.
JimmySays: Arnold’s availability at the 22nd pick remains uncertain.
Graham Barton, OL, Duke (Forecasted by Ryan Wilson, CBS)
Barton’s versatility along the offensive line could address the Eagles’ need for depth, particularly if Jason Kelce retires.
JimmySays: While Barton’s flexibility is valuable, a Round 1 selection might be a stretch.
Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama (Suggested by Chris Trapasso, CBS)
McKinstry’s potential to shore up the Eagles’ secondary is evident, although concerns about his speed persist.
JimmySays: McKinstry’s attributes are notable, but speed remains a question mark.
Kingsley Suamataia, OT, BYU (Projected by Josh Edwards, CBS)
Suamataia offers versatility in the event of Lane Johnson’s departure or offensive line injuries, reminiscent of Jordan Mailata’s style.
In the buildup to the NFL Draft, speculation abounds regarding the Eagles’ potential selections, with a keen focus on fortifying their offensive line and secondary.
