DONE DEAL: GREEN BAY PACKER SIGN four-year $10.6 million contract including a signing…..

The Green Bay Packers are prioritizing bolstering their offensive arsenal to support quarterback Jordan Love’s quest for Super Bowl success. With doubts surrounding the future of running backs Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon, the Packers are eyeing free agency to enhance their backfield options.

Pro Football Focus suggests that the Packers could be an ideal destination for Josh Jacobs, a former rushing champion and free agent. Although Green Bay had previously shown interest in Jonathan Taylor, who extended his stay with the Indianapolis Colts, the potential departure of A.J. Dillon and the durability concerns with Aaron Jones make Jacobs an intriguing prospect.

Despite a shortened 2023 season due to injury, Jacobs boasts an impressive resume, having rushed for over 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns in a previous campaign. Known for his explosive running style, Jacobs has amassed over 5,500 yards and 46 touchdowns throughout his career, making him a valuable asset for any team.

Incorporating Jacobs into the Packers’ offense could be seamless, given his ability to gain yards after contact, which aligns well with Green Bay’s offensive scheme, especially with young offensive linemen in the mix for 2024.

However, Jacobs enters free agency in a market where running backs are undervalued by NFL teams. Despite his past accomplishments, he might not command a hefty contract similar to Saquon Barkley’s franchise-tag deal with the New York Giants. Jacobs’ injury-marred 2023 season further diminishes his bargaining power, with Spotrac estimating his market value at $10.6 million annually on a four-year contract.

Ultimately, the Packers’ pursuit of Jacobs underscores their commitment to fortifying their roster and providing ample support for their young quarterback in their quest for championship contention.
