The member of the Sheffield United Women’s Championship team with the longest tenure, Maddy Cusack, passed away at the age of 27. The statement that the Sheffield United club posted on its website said: “Sheffield United Football Club is devastated to report the sad news of Maddy Cusack’s passing.” Maddy, a member of the women’s team since 2019 and the Football Club’s marketing executive, passed suddenly on Wednesday.

The announcement reads, ‘A recognized player, Maddy, 27, last season surpassed the milestone of 100 appearances for Sheffield United Women. She transferred from the Sheffield United Community Foundation to the Club in 2021 to assist market all aspects of the Blades, and she was a valued colleague in the Bramall Lane offices.

Chief Executive Officer of United, Stephen Bettis, said: “This is heartbreaking.”

When Maddy shared the achievement on Instagram in July, she had just begun her sixth season at Sheffield United. “6 years & counting,” she wrote.I’m thrilled to have re-signed with Sheffield United. anticipating the season! #utb’.

She said, “I think everyone knows how much I love this club,” in an interview. I call this club my home.

In 2019, Maddy debuted for Sheffield United. She had previously played for Leicester City, Birmingham City, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest. Maddy went on to work at Sheffield United as a marketing executive in addition to her playing career.
