
Aaron Judge, the esteemed New York Yankees outfielder and reigning American League MVP, has been appointed as the captain of Team USA for the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC), marking his inaugural participation in the international tournament. This announcement was made by Team USA manager Mark DeRosa on April 14, 2025, via MLB Network. Judge expressed his enthusiasm for representing the United States, stating that it would be “pretty fun” and emphasizing the goal of winning the championship.e opted out of the 2023 tournament due to his recent nine-year, $360 million contract with the Yankees, which required his full attention during spring training. The 2026 WBC is scheduled to take place from March 5 to 17, with games held in Houston, Miami, Tokyo, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. Team USA will compete in Pool B alongside Mexico, Italy, Great Britain, and Brazil, with their group-stage games occurring in Houston from March 6 to 11.
