Stephon Shivers, a three-star defensive lineman from Brentwood Academy in Tennessee, has committed to the University of Florida after previously being pledged to the University of Georgia. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 365 pounds, Shivers is ranked as the No. 489 overall player and the No. 52 defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite rankings
Shivers initially committed to Georgia in March 2024 but decommitted on November 8 of the same year. Shortly thereafter, he took an official visit to Florida and, within a week, announced his commitment to the Gators on November 18, 2024 . His decision adds a significant presence to Florida’s defensive line, as he projects to play nose tackle at the collegiate level
Florida’s 2025 recruiting class now includes 14 commitments and is ranked No. 31 nationally. The Gators are expected to remain active in recruiting, particularly through the transfer portal, to bolster their roster
While Shivers’ decommitment is a loss for Georgia, the Bulldogs maintain a strong recruiting class, ranked No. 2 nationally, with commitments from other highly regarded defensive linemen. The transition of Shivers to Florida underscores the dynamic nature of college football recruiting, where player commitments can shift rapidly based on various factors.
As Shivers prepares to join the Gators, his development and impact on the field will be closely watched by both Florida and Georgia fans, especially given the rivalry between the two programs.
