New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo has provided an important update regarding his ongoing recovery from a left foot injury as the team approaches spring training. Nimmo, who has been dealing with plantar fasciitis since May 2024, received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his left foot following the Mets’ postseason run, during which he played through significant discomfort. Despite the persistent nature of the injury, Nimmo remains optimistic about his progress and potential readiness for the upcoming season.
Throughout the offseason, Nimmo has been actively engaged in a rehabilitation program at the Mets’ spring training facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida. His regimen includes regular workouts four days a week, focusing on strength and conditioning. However, as of mid-December 2024, he had not yet resumed running or jogging activities, acknowledging that recovery from plantar fasciitis can be a gradual process. Nimmo expressed confidence that, with continued progress, he would be prepared to participate fully in spring training and be ready for Opening Day.
Reflecting on the previous season, Nimmo’s performance saw a decline in the second half, with his batting average dropping to .190 post-All-Star break. While he refrained from attributing this downturn solely to his foot injury, the discomfort undoubtedly impacted his on-field capabilities, particularly his running and overall mobility. As the 2025 season approaches, both Nimmo and the Mets’ coaching staff are hopeful that his dedicated rehabilitation efforts will facilitate a return to his earlier form, bolstering the team’s prospects for the upcoming campaign.
