The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed infielder Michael Chavis to a minor league contract in February 2025. Chavis, a former first-round draft pick by the Boston Red Sox in 2014, has had a journeyman career across several Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. He made his MLB debut with the Red Sox in 2019, showcasing potential with his versatility in playing both first and second base.

After his tenure with Boston, Chavis was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2021, where he spent parts of two seasons. In 2023, he signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals and made their Opening Day roster, appearing in 48 games and batting .242 with two home runs and five RBIs. Following his stint with the Nationals, Chavis had brief periods with the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox organizations in 2024 but did not secure a long-term position.

By joining the Dodgers, Chavis aims to revitalize his MLB career and provide depth to the team’s infield options. His experience and ability to play multiple positions could be valuable assets as the Dodgers prepare for the upcoming season.
