Red Sox President and CEO Sam Kennedy has publicly supported Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow amid internal discussions regarding potential roster enhancements. Reports indicate a divide within the front office concerning the acquisition of Astros infielder Alex Bregman. Manager Alex Cora and Kennedy are reportedly in favor of adding Bregman, while Breslow prefers to rely on the emerging talents of rookies Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell, and Marcelo Mayer.
Kennedy emphasized the organization’s commitment to strengthening the lineup, particularly following the departure of Tyler O’Neil and his 31 home runs, which has left a significant void. He reiterated that adding a right-handed bat remains a priority for the Red Sox this offseason.
Potential candidates to fill this role include free agents Justin Turner and JD Martinez. Turner, who previously played for the Red Sox, and Martinez, still available on the market, are both considered viable options to bolster the team’s offensive capabilities.
