The Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays are leading contenders in the pursuit of free-agent outfielder Anthony Santander. Santander, 30, had a career-best season with the Baltimore Orioles in 2024, hitting .235/.308/.506 with 44 home runs and 102 RBIs. Reports indicate that the Blue Jays have extended a four-year, $82 million offer to Santander, while the Angels’ offer details remain undisclosed. The Detroit Tigers are also interested but view Santander as a secondary option if they fail to sign Alex Bregman.
In their efforts to strengthen the bullpen, the Angels recently reached a one-year, $1.075 million agreement with left-handed pitcher José Quijada, avoiding arbitration. Quijada, 29, posted a 3.26 ERA over 22 appearances last season, including a career-best stretch of 12 consecutive scoreless games.
The Blue Jays, meanwhile, have been active in the free-agent market, signing outfielder Michael Conforto to a one-year, $17 million contract to bolster their outfield depth. They remain interested in re-signing Teoscar Hernández, though negotiations have reportedly stalled. Santander’s potential addition would further enhance Toronto’s lineup, especially following the departure of Hernández.
