Former Mets star rumored to be nearing a deal with Blue Jays. Check out info in full ….

The Toronto Blue Jays have been actively pursuing former New York Mets players to bolster their roster. Notably, they signed veteran infielder Eduardo Escobar on February 16, 2024. Escobar, who was traded from the Mets to the Los Angeles Angels in June 2023, had a modest performance last season with six home runs and 31 RBIs over 99 games. His addition aims to strengthen the Blue Jays’ infield depth, especially with potential departures of key players.

On the same day, the Blue Jays agreed to a minor league contract with designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach, including an invitation to major league spring training. Vogelbach joined the Mets before the 2022 trade deadline and had a mixed tenure, showing promise initially but struggling in early 2023. He improved in the latter half, posting a .245/.344/.481 line with eight home runs over the final 41 games. Toronto hopes Vogelbach can provide a selective batting eye and power against right-handed pitchers.

Additionally, the Blue Jays signed left-handed reliever Josh Walker to a one-year deal worth $760,000 on December 20, 2024. Walker, 30, pitched for the Mets in 2024, holding a 5.11 ERA over 10 games before being traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates. His signing aims to enhance Toronto’s bullpen depth.
