BREAKING NEWS::yankees-avoid-arbitration-with-dynamic-infielder-on-5-85-million-deal

Jazz Chisholm Jr. joining the Yankees and delivering such a significant impact is the type of trade deadline acquisition fans dream about. His dynamic combination of speed, power, and energy likely gave the Yankees a much-needed spark. If he’s become a cornerstone player or even played a critical role in a playoff push, it underscores the importance of making bold moves at the deadline.

The New York Yankees have successfully avoided arbitration with infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. by agreeing to a one-year contract worth $5.85 million for the 2025 season. This agreement is notably below the projected arbitration figure of $6.9 million, providing the Yankees with additional financial flexibility.

Chisholm, 26, began the 2024 season with the Miami Marlins, where he posted a .256 batting average, 13 home runs, and 22 stolen bases over 101 games. In a mid-season trade, he was acquired by the Yankees to address their infield needs, particularly at third base. Upon joining the Yankees, Chisholm’s performance surged, recording a .273 batting average, 11 home runs, and 18 stolen bases in just 46 games. His dynamic combination of power and speed, along with his versatility in the infield, made him an invaluable asset during the Yankees’ postseason run.

With this contract, Chisholm remains under team control through the 2026 season, after which he will be eligible for free agency. His exact role for the upcoming season remains flexible, as he is capable of playing both second and third base. This versatility allows the Yankees to adapt their infield configuration based on future roster moves and acquisitions.

In addition to Chisholm’s signing, the Yankees have reached agreements with several other arbitration-eligible players. They signed reliever Devin Williams to a one-year deal worth $8.6 million, starter Clarke Schmidt for $3.6 million, and reliever Scott Effross for $800,000. These signings reflect the organization’s commitment to maintaining a strong and cohesive roster for the 2025 season.
