The Ohio State football program finds itself navigating the transfer portal once again, seeking reinforcements for its offensive line. Over the past two offseasons, the Buckeyes turned to the portal to bring in Seth McLaughlin and Josh Simmons. This repeated reliance highlights deeper issues within the program.
Justin Frye’s struggles in recruiting and managing offensive line depth have left the Buckeyes in a precarious position. Missed recruiting opportunities and insufficient numbers on the depth chart have forced the team to explore external options to fill critical gaps.
There is a silver lining, however. Ohio State appears to be in a strong position to secure Isaiah World, the top offensive tackle currently available in the portal. World, a standout from Nevada, spent three seasons with the Wolfpack and could provide an immediate solution for Ohio State’s left tackle vacancy. With Simmons and McLaughlin both heading to the NFL, World’s arrival would address a key need. However, as a senior, his contribution would only be a temporary fix, leaving Ohio State still needing a long-term plan for its offensive line.
As the portal officially opens, Ohio State has yet to secure any commitments. If World chooses the Buckeyes, he could mark the beginning of a critical offseason rebuild.
