WKU put Mark Pope’s team to the test. The UK coach found the following aspects of the response appealing. See

Mark Pope’s unbeaten Kentucky basketball squad continues to win. Even though Tuesday night inside Rupp Arena wasn’t always glamorous, the No. 8-ranked Wildcats advanced to 6-0 on the early season with an 87-68 victory over See

The Wildcats shot only 27.6% from 3-point range and a paltry 69% from the foul line, but it helped that Pope’s team had 42 attempts from the charity stripe. A foul-prone WKU team did a good job of mucking up the game and limiting Kentucky’s fast-break and transition opportunities, but UK comfortably pulled away by the game’s end.

UK was led in scoring by junior guard Otega Oweh and fifth-year forward Andrew Carr, who both finished with 18 points. Fifth-year guard Lamont Butler also added 14 points for the Wildcats, despite shooting 3-for-9 from the field. Kentucky now gets a few days to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday before welcoming Georgia State to Rupp for what’s expected to be another comfortable win on Friday night.
