Republicans retained their hold on political power in Missouri and Kansas in the 2024 general election, according to results shared by local election boards Tuesday night and race predictions by the Associated Press. While Missourians voted to approve several amendments championed by progressive advocates — including those
overturning the state’s ban on abortion and raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour — Republicans maintained their control over the state’s executive branch as well as U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley’s seat in Congress. The GOP also maintained its supermajority in the Kansas state legislature.
And former president Donald Trump has been reelected, the AP determined Wednesday morning. Trump won 58.5% of the vote in Missouri and 57.4% of the vote in Kansas, securing both states’ Electoral College votes.
