£10 million Celtic star is unexpectedly called up to the national team, according to the report.

This morning, Celtic player Matt O’Riley received a last-minute call-up to the Danish national team.

The Hoops midfielder was not included in the first roster, and it was assumed that he would not have had a chance to make Kasper Hjulmand’s team.

However, it appears like he may soon make his international debut after Kasper Dolberg was sent home following the birth of his twins, according to a report in The Sun.

According to the story, the Danish FA issued a statement in which it was stated that Kasper Dolberg was returning to Belgium to be with his girlfriend and his newborn twins.

“After the Kazakhstan game, Dolberg and national coach Kasper Hjulmand decided that he should return home to be with his family.

 

“Matt O’Riley will take his place,” was stated.

O’Riley is entirely deserving of this call-up; he was the target of a £10 million bid from Leeds United and was valued at over £10 million in a recent report over the summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been in fantastic form for Brendan Rodgers’ team this year and is widely expected to earn a permanent international contract with either Denmark or Norway.

O’Riley has been on fire for the Hoops so far this season, scoring five goals in his first 11 games. Celtic, who lead the Scottish Premier League by seven points, have maintained their dominance of the sport.

O’Riley, who has six caps and two goals to his name for the u21 team, has been waiting for his chance to make his senior debut, and it appears like he will have that chance during the forthcoming international match against Kazakhstan.
