The Carolina Panthers have bolstered their tight end roster by signing Clemson standout Jake Briningstool to a two-year contract. Briningstool, a 6-foot-6, 241-pound athlete, concluded his collegiate career as Clemson’s all-time leader in receptions by a tight end, amassing 127 catches for 1,380 yards and 17 touchdowns over 48 games. His consistent performance earned him All-ACC honors in both 2023 and 2024.
In his final season, Briningstool recorded 49 receptions for 530 yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing his reliability as a pass-catcher. His versatility in route running and ability to find openings in zone coverage make him a valuable asset in the passing game.
The Panthers’ decision to sign Briningstool addresses the team’s need for depth at the tight end position. With Ja’Tavion Sanders as the only tight end under contract prior to this signing, Briningstool’s addition provides quarterback Bryce Young with another dependable target.
Briningstool’s journey to the NFL included participation in the 2025 Reese’s Senior Bowl, where he had the opportunity to showcase his skills to professional scouts. His performance at the Senior Bowl, combined with his collegiate achievements, positioned him as a promising prospect for NFL teams seeking to enhance their offensive options.
As Briningstool transitions to the professional level, his track record suggests he has the potential to make significant contributions to the Panthers’ offense. His size, hands, and route-running capabilities offer Carolina a versatile tight end option as they aim to strengthen their offensive lineup for the upcoming season.
