The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks on February 1 and the superstar has been playing well with his new team.
Entering Wednesday’s Lakers-Dallas Mavericks game, Doncic is averaging 27.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in 26 games with Los Angeles. He’s shooting 42.2% overall, 36.0% from 3 and 81.0% from the foul line.
The Lakers have the leading scorer in NBA history on their team. That would be LeBron James, the four-time MVP and four-time Finals MVP who has been in the league since Many NBA fans wondered if James’ ball-dominant style of play would hinder Doncic, but it hasn’t. Doncic appeared in 422 games with the Mavericks. He averaged 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists and made five All-Star teams and five All-NBA teams.
Dallas reached the 2024 NBA Finals behind Doncic and Kyrie Irving but lost to the Boston Celtics in five games.
