Following Florida State University’s inaugural spring scrimmage, defensive coordinator Tony White commended redshirt junior defensive back Earl Little Jr. for his exceptional performance. White highlighted Little’s significant contributions, stating, “Earl has made some of the biggest hits and some of the best plays all camp. He is HIM. He is truly HIM back there and it’s fun to watch the things that you can do with him.”
Head coach Mike Norvell also recognized Little’s impact during the scrimmage, noting that he secured an interception, contributing to the defense’s ability to create turnovers.
Little’s journey to this point has been marked by perseverance and adaptability. Initially a four-star recruit, he began his collegiate career at the University of Alabama before transferring to Florida State. In the previous season, Little participated in all twelve games, recording 15 tackles, including one for loss, and one sack. Midway through the season, he transitioned from nickel cornerback to safety, a move that appears to have amplified his effectiveness on the field.
Coach White’s emphasis on mindset and resilience within the defensive unit aligns with his praise for Little. He highlighted instances where players, including Little, demonstrated determination by recovering from conceded plays and making pivotal stops. This approach underscores the coaching staff’s commitment to fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
As the Seminoles progress through their spring practices, the coaching staff remains focused on evaluating and enhancing player performance. The recent scrimmage, consisting of approximately 110-120 plays with an emphasis on situational drills like red zone and third-down scenarios, provided valuable insights into individual and team dynamics. The performances of players like Earl Little Jr. serve as a promising indicator of the defense’s potential for the upcoming season.
