Boston Should Be All-in on Thought of Adding Four-Time All-Star

While most teams are preparing for the upcoming 2025 season, every team outside of the Toronto Blue Jays should feel excited about the next off-season after the latest from one of the league’s best hitters.

Four-time All-Star and Blue Jays first baseman/designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero Jr. gave an update on his free agency decision after this 2025 season. Guerrero said that he is willing to talk to every team in the league to sign this next free agency. He isn’t opposed to having a conversation with the New York YankeesOne team that doesn’t want that to happen is the Boston Red Sox. They should be at the front of the lines to block the Yankees from getting a superstar, but also to get another star for themselves.

The Red Sox have multiple ways of making Guerrero one of the biggest stars on their team. Boston only has first baseman Triston Cases for one year; $800,000 thousand deal. Guerrero can easily take his spot for the 2026 season. In 121 games last season at first base, Guerrero accounted for 873 putouts, 70 assists, 90 double-plays, and 10 errorIn 159 games at the plate last season, he accounted for a .323 batting average, an on-base percentage of .396, and a slugging percentage of .544. He also accounted for 98 runs, 199 hits, 30 home runs, 103 RBIs, 72 walks, and 96 strikeouts. These are some of the best numbers he put up since his first All-Star year in 2021.

Boston having an infield lineup of Guerrero, second baseman Alex Bregman and third baseman Rafael Devers would create one of the best units the league has seen in decades. This would be on par with the lineup that the Los Angeles Dodgers has created.
