In the 2024 National League Championship Series (NLCS), New York Mets catcher Francisco Álvarez faced significant challenges at the plate, managing only five hits in his first 35 postseason at-bats and striking out 13 times. Despite these struggles, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expressed unwavering confidence in the 22-year-old, emphasizing Álvarez’s potential to change the game’s outcome with a single swing.
