BREAKING NEWS: Los Angeles Makes Kenley Jansen Decision After Mets News…………

Kenley Jansen, the veteran closer and MLB’s active saves leader with 447, has signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels as spring training begins. This move brings the 37-year-old back to Southern California after his tenure with the Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves, following a 12-year stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Last season, Jansen recorded a 3.29 ERA and 27 saves, further solidifying his position as one of the game’s premier closers.

The Angels, who finished with a 63-99 record last season, have been active in bolstering their roster by adding several veterans, including Jansen. Despite these acquisitions, the team’s success will heavily depend on the health and performance of key players like Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon. Current projections from Fangraphs estimate the Angels will finish with a 75-87 record this season. If the team struggles, Jansen could become a valuable trade asset, as experienced relievers are often in high demand at the trade deadline.

This signing comes on the heels of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ recent postseason success, where they defeated the New York Mets in the National League Championship Series to advance to the World Series against the New York Yankees. The Dodgers’ bullpen played a crucial role in their playoff run, with multiple relievers stepping up in key moments. Jansen’s return to Los Angeles, albeit with the Angels, adds an interesting dynamic to the city’s baseball landscape as both teams prepare for the upcoming season.
