Does Max Scherzer know something we don’t about Blue Jays’ pursuit of Alex Bregman??????CHECK OUT HIS VIEW

MLB insider Jon Heyman noted that Scherzer had a Zoom meeting with the Blue Jays, during which he emphasized his desire to join a winning team. Heyman stated, “I think he basically told them, ‘Look, I want to win – you guys won 74 games last year, let’s see what the roster is before I decide what I wanna do.'” This suggests that Scherzer is closely monitoring the Blue Jays’ roster moves to assess their competitiveness.

In parallel, the Blue Jays have been linked to free agent third baseman Alex Bregman. However, according to insider Ben Nicholson-Smith, while the Blue Jays have shown interest, they may not be willing to “over-extend” themselves to sign Bregman. Nicholson-Smith believes the team might prefer a shorter deal with potential opt-outs, whereas Bregman is reportedly seeking a contract in the $200 million range.

Given Scherzer’s focus on joining a competitive team, it’s plausible that he is observing the Blue Jays’ pursuit of players like Bregman to gauge their commitment to building a winning roster. However, there is no direct evidence to suggest that Scherzer has specific insights or has publicly shared opinions about the Blue Jays’ efforts to sign Bregman.
