The Florida State University (FSU) community is deeply moved by the announcement of Coach Leonard Hamilton’s resignation, effective at the end of the current season. After 23 seasons at the helm of the men’s basketball program, Hamilton has become the winningest head coach in FSU history, leading the Seminoles to 16 postseason appearances and 12 seasons with 20 or more wins.
In his heartfelt statement, Coach Hamilton expressed profound gratitude: “I am deeply thankful for the tremendous support of our fans, alumni, and everyone associated with Florida State throughout my time here. I am proud of the quality of the young men that it was my privilege to lead… I have been blessed beyond words for the opportunity and the experience we’ve had here.”
FSU’s Vice President and Director of Athletics, Michael Alford, lauded Hamilton’s contributions, stating, “Coach Hamilton’s personal character and integrity, and his leadership, set a tremendous standard for all of FSU Athletics. Few people have been as important in building the positive reputation of Seminole Athletics.”
