Shocking news; rumors believed by Mets fans that turns out to be fake…… Check out real news on Pete Alonso

Recent developments indicate that Pete Alonso’s future with the New York Mets remains uncertain. The star first baseman, who has been a cornerstone of the Mets’ offense since his record-breaking rookie season in 2019, is currently a free agent. Contract negotiations have been challenging, with Alonso reportedly rejecting a seven-year, $158 million extension from the Mets in 2023. He later declined a three-year offer in the $68-$70 million range, seeking a more substantial deal. Alonso’s agent, Scott Boras, is advocating for a contract exceeding the $214 million, nine-year agreement that Prince Fielder secured in 2012. However, Alonso’s age (30) and recent performance have made teams cautious about committing to long-term, high-value contracts.

Mets owner Steve Cohen has acknowledged the difficulties in these negotiations, stating, “Pete is a huge part of our organization, and we’d love to keep him here long-term. But at the end of the day, we have to make decisions that work for both the team and the player. Nothing is guaranteed in this business.” This sentiment reflects the complexities the Mets face in balancing Alonso’s contract demands with the organization’s long-term strategy. As a result, the Mets are reportedly considering alternative plans should they be unable to re-sign Alonso.

Despite the uncertainty, Alonso’s contributions to the Mets have been significant. Over five seasons, he has hit 192 home runs and driven in 498 RBIs, solidifying his status as one of MLB’s elite sluggers. His leadership and performance have been instrumental in the team’s successes, including a memorable moment in October 2024 when he hit a game-changing home run in the playoffs, underscoring his value to the franchise.
