Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly a significant admirer of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins. The Gunners recently made a £60 million bid for the 29-year-old England international, which Aston Villa rejected. Despite this setback, Arsenal remains keen on bolstering their attacking options, especially in light of injuries to key players like Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.
Watkins has been in impressive form, scoring 10 goals in 23 Premier League appearances this season. His physicality, pace, and goal-scoring abilities have caught the attention of Arteta, who believes Watkins could significantly enhance Arsenal’s title ambitions. However, Aston Villa, currently competing in the Champions League, is reluctant to part with their star forward, especially amid the potential departure of another striker, Jhon Duran, to Al-Nassr.
In the wake of the failed bid for Watkins, Arsenal is exploring alternative options to strengthen their attack. The club has shown interest in players like Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko, and Viktor Gyokeres. Arteta has emphasized the importance of reinforcing the squad to maintain their competitive edge, particularly given the recent injuries impacting key players.
