The New York Mets have bolstered their outfield defense for the 2025 season by signing center fielder Harrison Bader. Bader, who joined the Mets on January 5, 2024, has established himself as one of Major League Baseball’s premier defensive outfielders. Over his career, he has accumulated 66 Outs Above Average from 2018 to 2023, leading all MLB outfielders in this metric.
In the 2024 season with the Mets, Bader demonstrated his defensive prowess by playing 140 games in center field. Offensively, he contributed a .236 batting average, 12 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases over 402 at-bats.
Bader’s addition has allowed the Mets to optimize their outfield alignment. Manager Carlos Mendoza announced that Bader would take over center field duties, enabling Brandon Nimmo to shift to left field, thereby strengthening the team’s overall defensive configuration.
With Bader patrolling center field, the Mets aim to enhance their defensive performance in the upcoming season. His exceptional range and fielding skills are expected to play a crucial role in the team’s pursuit of success in 2025.
