New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo is currently managing a case of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, an issue that emerged during the 2024 season and continues to affect him as spring training approaches. Despite receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection and engaging in physical therapy during the offseason, Nimmo’s recovery has been gradual. He has begun a running progression but has yet to resume sprinting, leading to expectations that he will miss the initial Grapefruit League games.
Nimmo remains optimistic about his readiness for Opening Day on March 27, 2025, against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park. He emphasized the importance of a cautious approach to avoid setbacks, stating, “The biggest thing is to be ready for Opening Day. To that point, we are just going to try and go as fast as the foot will let us.” In the meantime, he continues to participate in workouts and batting practice, focusing on maintaining his overall fitness and hitting skills.
The Mets are closely monitoring Nimmo’s condition, recognizing his significant role in the team’s outfield and lineup. His health and performance are pivotal for the upcoming season, and both Nimmo and the organization are committed to ensuring he returns to full strength without rushing the process. As spring training progresses, updates on his status will be essential for planning the team’s roster and strategy for the 2025 season.
