The Los Angeles Dodgers have re-signed catcher Chris Okey to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training. Okey, who turned 30 last month, has nine games of major league experience, having appeared in seven games for the Cincinnati Reds in 2022 and two games for the Los Angeles Angels in 2023.
Originally a second-round pick by the Reds in 2016, Okey spent the 2024 season with the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate, the Oklahoma City Dodgers, where he played in 45 games and posted a .236/.283/.327 batting line. Throughout his minor league career, he has demonstrated solid defensive skills and the ability to work effectively with pitching staffs.
In re-signing Okey, the Dodgers aim to add depth to their catching corps as they prepare for the upcoming season. He will join a group of catchers in Spring Training that includes Will Smith, Austin Barnes, and top prospect Dalton Rushing. Okey’s experience and familiarity with the organization make him a valuable asset as the team looks to build upon its recent successes.
