While the Los Angeles Dodgers have long been praised for their impressive pitching rotation, there are several reasons why they may not have the best rotation ever, even with the addition of Roki Sasaki. Despite his immense potential, there are factors that prevent the Dodgers’ staff from achieving such an elite status.
First, one of the biggest challenges for the Dodgers’ rotation is consistency. While the team boasts some exceptional arms, including Sasaki, not all of their pitchers have been consistently dominant throughout entire seasons. Injuries and fluctuations in performance can affect the overall effectiveness of a pitching staff, and the Dodgers have experienced this from time to time. For a rotation to be considered the best of all time, it requires sustained excellence from every member, which hasn’t always been the case for Los Angeles.
Secondly, while Sasaki is undoubtedly a talented pitcher, he is still young and relatively unproven in Major League Baseball. His success in Japan has been remarkable, but adapting to the rigors and competition of MLB can be challenging, and his future performance in the league remains to be seen. His potential is high, but the Dodgers’ rotation will need more than just his promise to be the best in history.
Lastly, the overall depth of the Dodgers’ rotation, while solid, isn’t quite on par with some of the historically great rotations. There are other teams that have featured multiple Hall of Fame-caliber pitchers in their prime, something the Dodgers haven’t quite achieved yet. The combination of consistency, proven performance, and legendary depth is what defines the greatest rotations in baseball history, and the Dodgers’ staff, despite its strength, doesn’t quite reach that level.
