The New York MetsFascinating buy-low trade target entered the NY Mets rumors, what could it cost?for more info check…… are reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring third baseman Alex Bregman to strengthen their infield. Bregman, a two-time All-Star and World Series champion with the Houston Astros, had a productive 2024 season, posting a .260 batting average with 26 home runs and 75 RBIs. Despite his consistent performance, his market value appears lower than expected this offseason, potentially allowing the Mets to secure him at a more favorable price.

To facilitate this acquisition, the Mets might consider offering a package centered around 25-year-old third baseman Brett Baty. Baty has shown promise but has struggled with consistency at the major league level. Including Baty in a trade package could be appealing to teams looking to develop young talent, especially if the Mets are targeting a player of Bregman’s caliber.

Financially, Bregman is reportedly seeking a contract in the range of $200 million. However, given the subdued interest from other teams, the Mets might negotiate a more team-friendly deal, possibly around $25 million per season. This approach would allow the Mets to enhance their infield with a proven performer without committing to an over-market contract, thereby maintaining flexibility to address other roster needs.
