The New York Mets have bolstered their bullpen by signing left-handed reliever A.J. Minter to a two-year, $22 million contract, pending a physical. The agreement includes an opt-out option after the first year, allowing Minter to re-enter free agency if desired.

Minter, 31, has spent his entire eight-year MLB career with the Atlanta Braves, compiling a 24–29 record with a 3.28 ERA and 36 saves over 384 relief appearances. In the 2024 season, he posted a 2.62 ERA in 39 games before undergoing season-ending hip surgery in August.

This acquisition is part of the Mets’ broader strategy to strengthen their roster following the departure of key players like Pete Alonso. In addition to Minter, the team has signed outfielder Jesse Winker to a one-year, $7.5 million contract and superstar outfielder Juan Soto to a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal.
