The Boston Red Sox have solidified their commitment to manager Alex Cora by agreeing to a three-year contract extension that spans the 2025 through 2027 seasons. This decision comes as Cora’s previous contract was nearing its end, ensuring his leadership remains a cornerstone of the team’s future endeavors.
Cora, who first took the helm in 2018, led the Red Sox to a World Series title in his inaugural season. Despite a suspension in 2020 due to his involvement in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal, the Red Sox reinstated him in 2021, reflecting their enduring confidence in his managerial capabilities. Under his guidance, the team has achieved a 494-417 record, ranking him fourth in franchise history for managerial wins.
The extension, reportedly worth over $7 million per season, underscores the organization’s satisfaction with Cora’s performance and their optimism about the team’s trajectory under his leadership. Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow expressed his respect for Cora, highlighting his ability to connect with people and his shared desire to win, both in the current season and in the future.
