loosing linked to $36 million Gold Glover as Gleyber Torres replacement ohh yankee……

The New York Yankees face significant challenges ahead of Opening Day, particularly with the departure of Juan Soto, a blow the team knew was a possibility but still hoped to avoid. Compounding their issues is the lack of clarity around second baseman Gleyber Torres, whose return appears increasingly uncertain. While the infield remains a question mark, the Yankees do have a versatile asset in Jazz Chisholm Jr., acquired from the Miami Marlins. Chisholm has demonstrated impressive adaptability, moving from second base and center field in Miami to playing solidly at third base for the Yankees, despite no previous experience at the position.

However, Chisholm alone may not be enough to stabilize the Yankees’ infield. One intriguing solution could be free-agent infielder Ha-Seong Kim, formerly of the San Diego Padres. According to Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report, Kim’s skillset could complement Chisholm’s versatility perfectly. If Chisholm plays second base, Kim could lock down third; if Chisholm remains at third base, Kim would slide into second. Chisholm could also move to the outfield, leaving either infield position open for Kim, who boasts Gold Glove-caliber defense across third base, shortstop, and second base.

Kim, currently recovering from labrum surgery, is expected to return in spring 2025. His defensive reliability and flexibility would provide the Yankees with much-needed stability. Tim Britton of The Athletic projected Kim’s next deal at two years for $36 million, possibly including an opt-out after the first year. Such a signing could give the Yankees a dependable option to navigate their uncertain lineup while optimizing defensive matchups.
