Teammate of Kaizer Chiefs Target: ‘Arab Money is Unmatched’

are reportedly eyeing a move for prolific striker Michael Olunga, yet doubts loom over their financial capacity to secure his signature.

It’s been a challenging two-year quest for the Amakhosi to replace Samir Nurkovic’s goal-scoring prowess. Team coach Nasreddine Nabi has expressed that while Ranga Chivaviro has value, he remains eager for a more accomplished centre forward.

Recent speculation links Chiefs with Olunga, who currently plies his trade at Al-Duhail SC in Qatar. The 30-year-old forward has been in scintillating form, netting 11 goals in just 10 appearances this season, following an impressive tally of 22 goals in 26 outings last term.

The local media outlet FARPost reached out to Olunga’s Kenyan compatriot, Otieno, who plays for Richards Bay FC. Otieno suggested that the lure of financial offers from the Middle East could be a decisive factor for Olunga.

“Michael’s our national team’s captain; we converse regularly,” Otieno shared with FARPost. “I have heard the murmurs about a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs, but honestly, I’m not sure.”

He added, “Arab money is something else; one can never predict what might occur in that realm.”

“In the future, if Michael wishes to join the PSL, I’d gladly welcome him; it’s a fantastic league,” Otieno concluded regarding the Chiefs’ potential target.
