New York Rangers injury updates: Panarin, Lindgren skate before practice

Artemi Panarin and Ryan Lindgren of the New York Rangers are making progress in their recovery from injuries. Panarin, who’s been dealing with a lower-body injury, skated on his own before Sunday’s practice, which is a great sign for his potential return ¹. He’s currently listed as day-to-day, and while it’s unclear if he’ll be ready for the Rangers’ opening night game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 9, coach Peter Laviolette seems hopeful ² ³.

Ryan Lindgren, on the other hand, is week-to-week with an upper-body injury sustained during a preseason fight with Scott Mayfield ¹. This is a more serious concern for the Rangers, as Lindgren is a key defenseman and his absence will be felt. However, seeing him skate before practice is a positive step towards his recovery. The Rangers will likely need to rely on other players to fill the gap left by Lindgren’s absence, including Connor Mackey, Chad Ruhwedel, Ben Harpur, and Victor Mancini ².

It’s worth noting that Panarin has had to exit two preseason games early due to his lower-body injury, but fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be a long-term concern ³. The Rangers will be cautious with his return, and coach Laviolette has emphasized that Panarin’s recovery is “precautionary” ³. With Panarin and Lindgren making progress, Rangers fans can breathe a sigh of relief, but the team will still need to be careful to avoid further injuries as the season gets underway.
