Caitlin Clark added marked another milestone in what has been an iconic rookie campaign on Sunday, September 15, as she led the Indiana Fever to a hard-fought 110-109 victory against the Dallas Wings. After dropping a career-high 35 points on 10-of-22 shooting and 6-of-14 from beyond the arc, Clark set a new WNBA record for the most points by a rookie in their debut season (761 and counting). Clark shattered a long-standing record by Hall of Famer Seimone Augustus, who set the previous mark in 2006. After the game, Clark spoke about her new record as she expressed how much respect and admiration she has for the retired eight-time All-Star. “I remember when I went to my first WNBA game, I think [Augustus] was the first player that I ever met when I was courtside watching them warm up before the game,” Clark said. “It was her and Lindsay Whalen. It comes full circle for sure.” Clark then went on to describe how she took a photo with Augustus using her dad’s Blackberry phone, which according to the Fever rookie, “hardly worked.” “I was always a fan of her game, the way she shot the ball and score the ball,” Clark continued. “So, like I said, definitely a full-circle [moment].”
