The Vegas Golden Knights have a Danish representative for the 2026 Olympic qualifier. Check out player and plans

The 2024 Summer Olympics are in the books, producing countless memories and memes. Whether it’s a Turkish badass shooter getting a silver medal or an Australian breakdancer ruining any hope of the sport returning to the Olympics (and defending her moves), sports fans were fully engaged with this year’s iteration in Paris.

While this year’s competition is done, Vegas Golden Knights fans have something to look forward to in 2026. Jonas Rondbjerg will represent his native Denmark for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympic qualifiers, hoping to get them to Milan. More notable names should be up for speculation for the Golden Knights, including the United States’s Jack Eichel and Sweden’s William Karlsson. However, Rondbjerg is a nice start to a potentially growing list of Vegas stars participating.

Now, fans should believe that the Danish forward is above making excuses for his mistakes. After all, people in Denmark aren’t accustomed to coming up with reasons why they lost or didn’t do well. Fans should also believe he’s not much of a breakdancer (unless there’s something Rondbjerg is hiding from everyone).

Still, it’s a fun opportunity for the forward to play at a high level and bring national pride to the European country. Besides, competing at the highest level with other superstars across the globe is always exhilarating. So what has Rondbjerg done during his tenure with the Golden Knights?

A breakdown of what Vegas Golden Knights star Jonas Rondbjerg would bring to the 2026 Winter Olympics

Jonas Rondbjerg has spent three seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights, scoring three goals and seven assists in 63 games. Last season, he scored one goal and two assists at the NHL level, playing in 20 games. The Danish forward split time with the Henderson Silver Knights in 2023-24, playing 48 games with the AHL squad. Here, he scored nine goals and 16 assists.

This wouldn’t be the first time Rondbjerg has played in international competition, either. He played in four World Junior Championship (under 20) tournaments, scoring three goals and nine assists while representing Denmark. He’s also played at U18 levels, playing 15 games total in this level of competition.

It’s safe to say that the Golden Knights star has the pedigree to play in the 2026 Winter Olympics. He’s played in different levels of competition and competed against the world’s best. He’ll get a chance to not only represent his native country, but also the Golden Knights franchise as a whole. Let’s just hope he doesn’t crank out some dance moves while he’s on the ice.
