SIGN IN : Top Dallas player Mavericks Free Agent Set to Join LA Clippers….

The Mavericks had a contingency plan ready by signing Naji Marshall, but it will still be painful for fans to see this beloved player depart from Dallas.

Although the team was prepared with the addition of Naji Marshall, losing this fan favorite will undoubtedly be a tough blow for Dallas supporters.

That was quick. After the Dallas Mavericks secured an agreement with New Orleans Pelicans forward Naji Marshall, many thought Derrick Jones Jr. might take some time to consider his options, especially after recently signing with a new agent.

Instead, Derrick Jones Jr. has committed to a 3-year, $30 million deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. While the Mavericks have found a court replacement in Marshall, Jones Jr.’s high-flying athleticism and immediate locker room chemistry will be tough for fans to forget.

Retaining Jones Jr. was deemed Priority 1A and 1B by general manager Nico Harrison, but a change in agents complicated negotiations. Jones initially joined the Mavericks on a minimum contract last offseason as the final member of the roster and quickly made an impact with his defense and athleticism. He became Dallas’ primary defender against the opposing team’s best guards most nights, playing a crucial role in revitalizing the Mavericks’ defense this season.

The Clippers are undergoing significant changes this offseason, with All-Star Paul George likely departing to the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. They needed a replacement on the wing, and Jones Jr. provides similar athleticism and defensive prowess, though his offensive impact won’t match George’s. Jones Jr. had his best season this year alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, averaging 8.6 points per game and shooting a career-high 34.3% from 3-point range.
