– Some of us may often have the opportunity to attend an Atlanta Braves game, but not many of us are given the chance to meet the team’s staff. However, on Sunday morning, more than 1,300 students with disabilities were able to experience a moment of a lifetime for a day of career exploration and networking. Kids from across the state were able to connect with key members of the Braves’ staff. The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) joined with the Braves to make it happen. During the event, the students received career coaching and self-advocacy training. They were also able to listen in on a panel discussion and learn more about vocational rehabilitation and other GVRA programs. Katie Hearn, who is now a game day staffing administrator for the Braves, found work through the GVRA. Hearn is blind. Hundreds of students with disabilities were given an unforgettable experience when they met with the Atlanta Braves before a game. The event was organized to provide these students with a unique opportunity to interact with their favorite baseball players and enjoy a day at the ballpark. The gathering took place at Truist Park, where students from various schools and programs for individuals with disabilities converged. The excitement was palpable as the students got to meet Braves players, take pictures, and even get some autographs.
