Caitlin Clark, a standout junior guard from the University of Iowa, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup, recognizing her as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year. This accolade, presented during the 47th anniversary broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) at UCLA, highlights her exceptional performance both on and off the court.

Clark’s impressive season includes leading her team to their first-ever NCAA Championship game, setting numerous records in the process. She made history by achieving the first 40-point triple-double in NCAA tournament history and set records for the most three-point field goals made (24) and most points scored (191) in a single tournament. Clark is also noted for being the first player in Division I women’s basketball to score over 1,000 points and record 300 assists in a single season.

In addition to her on-court achievements, Clark has been honored with several prestigious awards, including the 2023 Naismith Trophy, Wade Trophy, Associated Press Player of the Year, and the USBWA Ann Drysdale Player of the Year. She has also twice won the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award and is the first three-time recipient of the Dawn Staley Award.

Off the court, Clark excels academically, being a two-time First Team Academic All-American and the 2023 CSC Academic All-American of the Year. Her dedication extends beyond basketball, as she actively supports other women’s sports at Iowa and encourages broader viewership and support for women’s athletics.

The Honda Cup award, established in 1976, celebrates the top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence, and community involvement. Since its inception, Honda has provided over $3.6 million in institutional grants to support women’s athletics programs at the universities of the award winners and nominees
