NEWS UPDATE : Braves are planning a new goal on winning the (NL) East…

Facing an eight-game deficit in the NL East and dealing with numerous injuries, most teams would start focusing on the Wild Card race. However, the Braves are not like most teams.

When questioned about whether his team might prefer staying fresh by competing in a Wild Card series rather than taking a week off due to a first-round bye, Braves manager Brian Snitker dismissed the idea.

“I’m not planning on doing a Wild Card series,” Snitker said. “We’re planning on winning the NL East.

Based on their performance this year, it’s hard to believe the Braves can catch the Phillies in the division. They have struggled offensively and are plagued by injuries, making it reasonable for fans and media to start considering other options.

Since the playoffs expanded, the Wild Card series has been particularly significant in the National League. The Braves and Dodgers have received first-round byes to the NLDS in each of the last two seasons, but they have combined to win just three games in that span.

There are legitimate concerns about the impact of extended rest on baseball teams. Offensive rhythm is crucial for success, and a five-day break can disrupt this rhythm, making it challenging to regain form quickly. In a five-game series, this loss of momentum can be detrimental and potentially decisive.
