DONE DEAL : Celtic key player Cruz Azul Receive Financial Boost As Star…..

Cruz Azul, a Mexican club, has secured the services of Georgios Giakoumakis from Atlanta United of the MLS, which represents a financial windfall for Celtic.

Giakoumakis initially departed Celtic to join Atlanta United during the winter transfer window of 2023 and swiftly found success in Major League Soccer. He impressively scored 19 goals in 30 matches last season and has already added five goals in eleven appearances this year.

Giakoumakis’s move to Cruz Azul sees Atlanta United receiving £7.9 million, a transaction that also benefits Celtic financially. Celtic had wisely included a sell-on clause in Giakoumakis’s transfer agreement to Atlanta United, entitling them to 20 percent of any profit earned by Atlanta United from his subsequent transfer outside of MLS.

With Atlanta United poised to make an estimated £4.5 million profit from Giakoumakis’s sale, Celtic were set to gain up to £900,000 through their sell-on clause. The final sum will account for any additional payments already made as part of pre-agreed add-ons. This injection of funds is timely for Celtic as manager Brendan Rodgers seeks to bolster the squad during the upcoming summer transfer window.
