Rob Couhig, the ex-owner of Wycombe Wanderers, is now at the forefront of the ongoing takeover efforts at Reading Football Club. This development comes only a few months after Couhig made headlines with his contentious attempt to purchase Reading’s Bearwood training facility. His involvement in the takeover saga is seen as a significant move, marking his continued interest in expanding his influence within the football world. Couhig’s leadership in the acquisition process underscores his persistent ambition in the sport, despite the controversies surrounding his previous endeavors.

The 75-year-old American, Rob Couhig, took control of Adams Park in 2019, leading Wycombe Wanderers to unprecedented success, including their first-ever season in the Championship. Couhig sold the club to Mikheil Lomtadze in May and stepped down as Chairman last week. Historically, there was little animosity between Wycombe and Reading, but tensions escalated in March when Wycombe announced plans to purchase the Bearwood training facility from Reading’s owner, Dai Yongge.

The proposed purchase of Bearwood training facility by Wycombe Wanderers sparked protests outside the stadium and quickly fell through once it became public. Despite facing intense anger and frustration from Reading supporters, Rob Couhig has remained undeterred. The lawyer is now attempting to take Reading Football Club off the hands of its current owner, Dai Yongge.
